Storytelling while playing the game
I personally love putting a backstory or storyline to the sim (or sims) im playing with. It makes it more immersive and enjoyable in my opinion. Even going based on your sims wants, fears, whims, moodlets can create a storyline you can follow along.
play with careers/traits/aspirations you don’t really play with!
I think it’s fun trying out the different careers we have in the sims especially if you’ve never experienced the career at all. Playing with sims who have a negative trait or a negative aspiration can be a crazy ride as well! Which I highly recommend. Experiencing new stories with different type of sim personalities and characteristics makes gameplay enjoyable.
Treat traits as temporary and not permanent
Sims are people, people’s personalities, attitudes etc can change! Cheerful sim? What if that cheerful sim experiences something traumatic & heartbreaking and becomes a gloomy sim? I think playing with traits this way adds more depth to sims especially when you’re doing storytelling with gameplay. This is more doable now with growing together adding these mechanics. You sims can have a self-discovery, maybe they found out they like art? Maybe they want to change careers and pursue something else?
Use your imagination
I’m serious! Especially if you don’t want to use tons of mods in your game. Example: (Pretending) your sims got a loan? Use the money cheat to add money into their “bank account”. Using poses and animations could help with bringing more things to life!
Use poses
not necessary if you don’t take photos of gameplay, but can come in handy to showcase a special moment you can’t with in game animations.
Try not to compare the way you play the game to the way other simmers play
play the way you want & what is fun for you! I feel when you compare the way you play the game & the way you take screenshots to the way another simblr does it, it’s easy to feel discouraged. You add your own twists and creativity to your gameplay!
take breaks
IT IS FINE TO TAKE BREAKS! If you’re not feeling your current legacy save or household it’s completely fine to take a breath and do something different. If you feel the need to start over then by all means, do it!
